After printing the template, you can take a ruler to figure out whether the size of the envelope is according to your needs or not. If you have any doubt about the size, you can print the template of a bit bigger size than the desired one and then you can trim it down to the desired size.
Usually, the invitation cards also have some standard sizes. For example, wedding invitation cards have a standard size of A2. The websites containing envelope templates contain envelope based on the standard size of the cards. I have an HP Officejet Pro and first I tried changing the driver to the Deskjet and my envelope wouldn't print so I tried changing the driver to the c driver and my envelope still won't print.
