I had lubro moly but after 5 k I drained it in favor of oem vw oil. The lubro moly was too notchy for my liking.
Changed it yesterday, stuff in there was not bad, but buying the car used I did not know when it was done last. Use the OEM G70 and it does seem to shift a little smoother. Genesis Top Post Dawg. The oil that came out wasn't particularly nasty and just looked like used gear oil.
There was no notable change in shift performance that I could detect. Genesis said:. Last edited: Nov 2, Pleasantly surprised on how much smoother the shift quality became. Now I wouldn't go back to using the VW fluid. Been using the GM Synchromesh for over a , km now. Thanks, df. G70 is working fine so far, been down in the 30's F a few mornings in the last couple of weeks, shifts good. Went with Pennsoil Synchromesh. Lovin' it so far. That little bit of "weirdness" shifting from 1st to 2nd is gone.
The fluid that I drained was the original and had , miles on it. It looked the same color as the Synchromesh I replaced it with. I re-installed the drain plug. I had about oz. I hurried and installed fill plug as I thought possible the car wasn't level although, it did look level to my eyes.
All the others required significant effort to shift during the first shifts of the day when it was cold.
I recently had my manual transmission fluid changed in my 2. It has 95k on it. The mechanic used synthetic fluid, which I think it requires. He looked at it again, and could find nothing. It was fine before. Has anyone had this problem? Do you think they are trying to pull a fast one?
This is a tough one. Most on this forum will say you should have the fluid replaced on a regular basis. The internet is full of stories about people that did that and then their transmission went bad. Forgot Your Username? New Customer? Create an Account. My Account Orders list Wishlist Checkout.
